ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be responsible for any ‘third power’ intervention over the party’s lockdown of the federal capital.
The party said that the upcoming protest is for the ‘resignation or accountability’ of the prime minister following the Panama leaks. “Only one person will be responsible if democracy is derailed,” the PTI chief said – while speaking to journalists on Sunday.
“We (PTI) are not doing this to bring in a third power,” Khan said, “Why is the protest happening? (Because) Nawaz is avoiding his accountability.”
“The protest is a democratic right of the party and the government will have to endure losses if it tries to stop us (PTI).”
The hearing had earlier been adjourned for two weeks, but the Supreme Court changed the date on Friday – starting an argument on why the hearing date is a day ahead of the planned siege of the city.
