RAWALPINDI: Security beefed up on Saturday in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi after the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) issued terror alert for four places including Parliament House, a local hotel of Rawalpindi and its adjacent shopping mall.
According to reports, on the terror alert the police and security forces cordoned off the building of a local five-star hotel located in the sensitive area of Cantonment. SSP Karamatul llah Malik, SP Sardar Ghais, SSP Security Haseeb Shah arrived on the spot along with the heavy force of police.
The police and security forces have closed all the entry and exit points of the hotel while Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) along with police launched the detailed searching of the hotel which continued till afternoon. Snuffers were also used during the searching process. After detailed searching, the security agencies had declared the building clear.
The administrative sources of the hotel said that the over all condition of the hotel is peaceful adding that the hotel management did not receive any threat call in this regard.
Sources further said that the security of the hotel is very effective and it is kept high alert owing to prevailing condition of the country. Meanwhile, after the possible terror alert on four important places of twin cities, the security in Rawalpindi has been tightened.
Besides sensitive public installations of Cantonment area, the security remained high alert of airport and important public places. Additional force along with the security personnel in plain cloths have also been deployed at various locations.
